Summer Teams
Mission Teams from outside our area:
You may come for a week, week end, or days at a time. There is a very nominal fee per person to use our ministries building. We have an air conditioned dormitory style facility with bunks for 36. This building has separate bath room and sleeping areas for male and female, a dining area, lobby, and full kitchen are included. No pets please. As of 2006 no linens, pillows, towels or washcloths are provided. Teams are scheduled on a first come basis. Possible times include summer weeks, holidays, and selected days during the year.
A regular day will include teaching Backyard Bible Clubs or VBS at one of our 19 locations in Jackson County. The club usually lasts an hour and a half. It is followed by serving lunch in at the local soup kitchen. Singing, puppets, and/or a short program of some kind is possible during this lunch. Some groups will visit a local assisted living facility in the afternoon presenting a similar if not the same program. Later that evening the team could go to one of the seamen centers. (Since 911 no one under 12 yrs. is allowed at the ports' centers) There they will visit with and minister to visitors from all over the world who come here to receive cargo for their countries. Worship services can be led at one of local alcohol/drug rehabilitation centers. Some groups partner with one of our local churches for A.M. or P.M. VBS, Sunday services and/or special events.
